WILL MC DOUGLE BEAT OUT CLEMONS ON THE FINAL CUTS???

I LIKE MANY OTHERS IN BIRD LAND THOUGHT THAT MC DOUGLE WAS JUST TAKING UP ROSTER SPACE!!! AFTER WATCHING HIM THIS PRE SEASON HE'S TOOK IT UPON HIMSELF AND WORKED HIS AZZ OFF TO DO A GOOD JOB!!!! CLEMONS HAS YET TO SHOW UP FOR US AS BIGTIME FREE AGENT SIGNING!!!! MC DOUGLE HASN'T CRIED AND JUST WORKED HIS TAIL OFF!!! MAYBE WE COULD'VE SAVED THAT BIGTIME SIGNING BONUS FOR A #1 WIDEOUT???

as much as we paid him, clemons better step it up

agreed peagle!!!! but i'm very impressed with mc dougle!!! he's really come along and has been a monster this pre season!!!!!

whoever gives us the best chance to win needs to start, but we did give up a good chunk of money for clemons

right you are may the best man win!!! grant it clemons injuries have hampered him. but j.j. isn't very patient when it comes to the learning curve of his schemes. it looks like when mc dougle was injured he did his studying of it and now is really impressing. i maybe mistaken in thinking we can get some cap forgiveness next year if we don't keep clemons. he be used as just a situational rusher now?

I think that they both should stay and get rid of D. Howard's bum ass!!!!

LOL!!! friends of mine say the samething!!! but you gotta remember he d-how can play tackle and de. j.j. can use him as that pass rushing tackle in nickel situations!!! where as clemons is just a situational pass rusher. you know how the staff loves those dual role guys it save them roster juggling when it comes down to final cuts. his contract also runs out this year and i don't see them resigning him anyway!!! looks like next years draft will have some good rushers in it!!!

Then we better use both are first next year one for a WR and one for a DE. Let's not hold our breaths.

i don't know, were known now for trading that first pick away for nothing

i think the reason for that is cause the fo felt that they could a couple of extra picks!!! cause no matter how much people don't want to believe that we are in a rebuilding stage we are!!! it was a good way to get some solid players to mold and groom in the system without spending that 1st rd. money!!! you can see for yourself that with exception of a few who really contributes in this system that they put in place their very first year!!!

i'm with you cous!!! i don't like trading away our 1st rd picks either and if we do then we should get bigtime receiver for one of them!!!! but it''s not upm to us as fans!! i feel your pain bro!!!

i say keep mcdougle, he's a former 1sr round pick. he's gonna take clemons' spot unless he can step up.

he's made me a believer!!! i was critic of his for the past 2 yrs.

the only problem is that with some players, preseason performance doesn't always carry over to the regular season

true that but it's chance to show what you got in the tank!!!! i say we give him shot!!!!

i was impressed with mays last nite too!!!!

McDougle has been great, He looks like a starter 2 me.

he has like he's a reborn de!!!!

clemons will make the team.. you dont spend that kind of money on a free agent just to cut him ........

anyway, it will be interesting 2 see who they cut, with so many great DE. Cole Clemons Parker and Smith are locks. Abiamiri will most likely go on the IR. McDougle and Howard have shown some stuff and are probably duking it out for the fifth spot. McDougle's gonna win.

ehh lileagle dont you worry both of em will make the team mcdougle because he got better and clemmons because F.O. threw too much money at him..........

lets hope the money wasn't wasted winna!!!!

im expecting a great season from chris clemons

i'm hopin too!!! let's just pray he doesn't turn out to be another javon kearse!!!

Yeah I don't see how they can cut Clemons because of what they've invested in him. Granted I don't know how much they are paying him over the course of the 5 years but they have to at least give him a chance to get healthy so that he can show up for some games this year. I like McDougle's hustle and overall play so far. I'd like to see him play against some 1's though rather then 2nd and 3rd team tackles that he's flat out better than and that's what it really comes down to.

Oh just to throw something out there.. we traded a conditional 2009 draft pick to the Colts this offseason for Luke Lawton who we just cut today. So does that pick automatically become a 6th or 7th round pick?? Or is there some stipulation involved where if he signs with another team, based upon performance and playing time we have to give up more than that?? Either way we got the raw end of the deal and that's 1 less pick in our arsenal for next draft. What the "F" FO?!? Not the biggest of deals but just wanted to see what everyone thought about it... GREAT GAME LASTNIGHT!!!

Jerome McDougle did go up against the starters for a while last night, and still got a sack. I agree with you about that Lawton trade.

Yeah any idea what happens with that draft pick if say he signs with another team and becomes a pro bowl FB for someone else, lol.. seriously though! I don't know what can or can't happen with that. We gave them a conditional draft pick so since we released him I highly doubt it all just ends there, we would have to give them something in return. Then if he signs somewhere else and is successful what does that do to us? anyone?

ib just hope we get trent cole some help from either of those guys because i think parker will wear down as the year goes on he is kinda undersized so mcdougle on clemons should help that i think howard should go and lawton was just a waste of time

i really don't see howard going though only cause of that dual role thing!!! i hope they don't get screwd over with this acquisition!!! when we could've gotten a number 1!!!!

yo honestly that money could've went more to moss , so much that he couldnt refuse and wouldve went to the eagles so we better keep clemens and see what hes got.

clemons will be here if mc dougle stays its because abirimi goes ir remember mcdougle hasnt seen a snap with any first offenses yet

put smith on the practice squad and abiamiri on the ir and keep cole, parker, howard, clemons, and mcdougle

If we put Smith on the practice squad another team will sign him away from us and then we wasted our 3rd round pick on him.. he has to be on the roster. They love his upside, it's just that he's so raw right now. Once he gets his technique down and learns he role on the defense he'll see the field but they won't give up on him just yet.

that's a problem right there soup!! good point!!

I think they keep 5 DE's Cole, Parker, McDougle, Abiamiri and Howard or Clemons. I'm leaning toward Howard, but then again we havent seen much of Clemons in the preseason. I think the team is leaning toward Howard too but i dont think they want part with that cash. SO you wonder do they take money or talent.

thats where the question is?? about the money!!!!

I think Howard is the odd man out

There is going to be alot of roster juggling going on. Now, Obviously we need to keep 6 WR's. Curtis, Brown, Jackson, Avant, Basket, and Lewis. Depending on how long Curtis will be out for.. they will need to either move somebody up for the 6th spot or bring someone else in to fill out the position.

On the Defensive line you figure 11 players to stay. At least I do. Starters Cole, Bunkley, Patterson, and Parker. Backups Smith, Clemons, Abiamiri (on the PUP to start the season), Howard, Laws, Klecko, and McDougle. So that's 7 DEs and 4 DTs. Abiamiri's roster spot I believe is an exemption up until or after week 6 when they have to move him to the active roster or put him on the IR for the rest of the way if he's not healthy. This is what they did with Ian Scott to start the year last year but wound up making a deal to cut him midway through the season but he couldn't play for another team for the rest of the year. I think that there is too much talent on the line this year to let go into the league. With the Giants just losing Osi for the year yesterday that makes them a team looking for help and I'm not trying to give the GMen anymore help...

i hear ya on the vagiants thing...LOL!!! you know if osi is out for the season our cuts will fit in nicely!!! i only see them keeping 10 d linemen though and that makes it tougher!!!!

Yeah it's definitely a good problem to have though! I just don't want anyone to get cut and go somewhere else and hurt us in the long haul. Which would be typical of any Philadelphia team. Just our luck!

well osi is out and i just posted a discussion about what we are talking about soup.

Hes out for the season check my post!

rebuilding stage lil eagle? if they were in rebuilding stage they would have drafted a player with the first round pick.. if your in rebuilding stage you dont trade away draft picks for next year bud
and as much as mcdougal has worked hard you have to consider that he is playing with the third team and you have to keep that in mind when evaluating performance.. with such a deep group of DE's, its gonna be hard to keep him around

hey its ctphilly!!! yes we are in a rebuilding stage!!! just not tearing down the the whole house!!! just doing it 1 room at a time!!! anyway good see that you came by my post to add your opinion!!!! i'm also pretty sure he did go up against the pats 1st team for a few rotations!!! anyway the dude has worked his azz off so
i'm not writing him off just yeat

we can debate about rebuilding on my next post!!! good to have you back!!!!

im not writing him off yet but its gonna be hard for him to make the team with the depth at DE

the only rebuilding they have done is put 3 (hopefully) solid young linebackers in there other than that they are keeping their core group together

i'm just saying that there are other options here!!! some dudes can't pick up j.j.'s d scheme!!! that makes clemons just as expendable as anyone except for the money!!! do you really want another kearse? don't get me wrong when i say mc dougle is the answer. i was calling for his head lots of times on here. he's earned my respect and hung in there!! he never put down the fans and just rehabbed and kept his game up. we have been rebuilding more than just the linebacker core also!!!! i'll post another blog to argue that point some time today!!!

lil eagle, since youre a jokester like me, check this thread i posted at draft time lol...

http://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/Roy_Williams_Was_Almost_an_Eagles_Draft_Weekend/261553

funny post tom cat!!!

yeah hopefully when the season starts clemons can step it up and play good which i think he will. Mcdougle has impressed me but it dont mean squat until its in the season and lets not forget Mcdougle's tendency to get hurt or shot dude has the worst luck.
