wow, this was refreshing

WTF!!!! Someone at SI must be high as an effing kite cuz I don't see the birds getting past the divisionals.

And apparently it's an exact repeat of super bowl XXXIX

you must not really bleed green then... i have em going 14-2...... so 12-4 is pretty close....... but i think we got the pats in the bowl....let alone anyone.....the colts are the only ones who scare me really.....

trust me, I bleed green alright. And I bet you read the articles on PE.com about how this team is so great and there's no problems or holes anywhere on the team that are written by spuds. But realize this, spuds works for the eagles. He's told what to write. It's like Westbrook said, I'm tired of them stacking 8 in the box. Our receivers don't scare ANY corners in the league. I bet a lot of fans think they can go undefeated, but thats not realistic. When I look at the season, I try to look at it unbiased, and try to look at it realistically. The way I see it, every team's gotta win at least one, and when the birds finally win one, I'll be there on Broad Street.

Im not scared of the the Pats at all they look like a sinking ship to me..... the colts could be a problem if Peyton is good all year

I think the bigger problem is the Eagles getting into the playoffs to begin with. Can I remind you that the last 2 NFC teams SI has picked has failed to make the playoffs? Panthers and Saints.

The pats were also picked so how did they turn out? Now this "curse" only applies to NFC teams?? LMAO you guys are REALLLY stretchin

ouch... i feel you but i really dont read all those articles by dave.... he to me really is not that great of a reporter..... but any way... no matter what you say the eagles have talent al around the field......there biggest problem is being consistant... how many games last year were decided by 1 point? or three points.. how many "should have" wins should we have had? they were really in consistant last year... thats why i believe this year they understand that and i bet they will put up some points any play solid d like always.........who know tho its the nfl

agreed. Those should have wins were lost in the red zone. I think we all know about the problems we had there. Part of it was because they always stacked eight in the box. Part of it, in my opinion, is because Andy isn't a good enough game day coach. He has a plan that he approaches every week, and on game day, if that plan isn't working, he's clueless as to how win. Thats just my honest opinion. But then again, his plan usually works to some degree. And it is the NFL. Who picked the Giants to win it all at the start of the season last year? I think no one other than Giants fans.

Who at SI chooses their official prediction? Is it one guy (Banks, King, Z) or is it a committee of people?

Based on all the media hype, and their history, I would have predicted that SI would say Jaguars - Vikings. I have to give them props for putting Eagles-Patriots, since that sounds like a prediction someone would really believe in objectively rather than just buying into stupid hype. It doesn't make it any more or less valid, but it is refreshing.

Dr. Z picked Eagles Pats

HAS S.I. LOOKED AT THE ROSTER RECENTLY....IF OWENS WAS STILL ON THE TEAM I WOULD BE ONBOARD WITH THEIR PREDICTION - MAKE DETRIOT A OFFER FOR ROY WILLIAMS THEY CAN NOT REFUSE ,WE ARE ONLY GOING TO TRADE OUT OF THE FIRST ROUND AGAIN ANYWAY

I wish it was as easy as just giving them a #1 pick and reggie brown but i doubt that'll do the trick

with a little luck we can do that!!! the steelers may beat us we'll sweep the skins!!! dallas a split!! we always have problems with the giants no matter how good we are so that's a question mark!!! the rest of the games we should win!!! i can see 11-5 or 10-6!!! this all depends if d-mac can have a long season!!! we also need to use our running attack more!!! but maybe 11-5 or 10-6 can win the division!!! in the afc my pic is jax this year though!!!

I haven't seen the article;but there is no way the Eagles are going 12-4. They are 10-6 at best;but more likely
9-7. There will be no WR pick up in the last minute;so we have what we have. And about last year. If the Eagles were suppose to win those games;they would have. Poor play calling. Poor execution;and lack of talent in certain positions caused us to lose those games.

you're right modee!! lots of factors some fixed some left unattended!!! i don't see this team going and winning without a #1 wideout!!! they may make it to the playoffs but no matter how bad i want 1 i don't believe it til i see it!!!

I agree with phillymp03...the colts are the only real threat...yall really shouldnt bite into what reporters are saying..after last year they talk about donovan as if he isnt one of the best quarterbacks out...all i here is dallas this and dallas that..if the eagles dont beat dallas in week two..you'll never see my name on this site again..im that confident..no matter who good dallas is the eagles ALWAYS get a win or two over them in the season

The Sports Illustrated "Kiss of Death". Didn't they pick the Eagles last year? I do think the Eagles will have a better record than the Giants or Redskins. I think that week 2 will tell everyone what they are waiting to find out.

yeah week 2 will be interestring.......

And no, last year the Eagles werent picked by SI 2006 was Dallas and NE, with NE winning...and last year NO saints over the Colts

Actually contrary to what people think about the SB picks being a curse, the Pats were picked and one twice, dont remember if they were picked to win or lose. And as retarted as I personally think Dr. Z is, his percentage of being right with his SB pics is just under 24% so sometimes he actually guesses right.

And that percentage is all in all. Not how many times hes correctly picked both teams getting there and then the winner but atleast one team getting there counts as 50%....Winning or losing doesnt even play into that equation so depending on how you look at the numbers it could be misleading. Plus I mean wtf isnt a curse these days? Madden, NCAA FB, SI cover, SI regional cover ( in that case Romo, Brady are and AP i beleve is the last guy are also cursed) Being picked to win the SB, being picked to lose the SB, I mean the ONLY one that has any backing to it is of course the Madden cover....calm down with the "curses" lol

And yea week 2 will certainly be exciting, but one game cetainly wont tell me everything Im waiting to find out. The Eagles could come out flat and have a bad game, or the Boys could come out flat or both teams could. Im thinking I need t osee a good 5-6 games until I see what I been waiting to find out, and see that Andy is using Desean in the way he should or not. Its hard to judge a team by one game against a divinsion foe, if you did that than the Eagles should have been goin to the playoffs the way they played the boys late last year...

i dont think people understand how good Jackson is doing picking up the eagles Offence the kid is on his way to taking that first spot after week five i will comback and post an i told you so message to all the people who said Jackson wont be the eagles number 1 the kid was born to be a WR and andy Knows it and i think basket will be the number 3

Um you can post your "I told you so message" and so will about 80% of the other people on this site?? Who exactly are you "telling so" and who exactly thinks otherwise?? Everyone Ive talked to, and mosty NOT eagles fans believe the kid is the truth and will be there before you even say so im not sure who your telling anything too when everybody already thinks the same thing. People want a proven big #1 still not bc they doubt D Jax, but bc it would take TONS of pressure of him and Westbrook, and make the inevitable double teams that will come his way at some point harder to pick who to double if you have Jackson and a true #1 threat out there.

I BLEED green, but Super Bowl? I don't see that happening. I think the team is improved and could easily win 9 games, maybe 10. The Cowboys are going to look unreal during the regular season I believe, but can they get past the playoff hump? The Redskins don't scare me, and what the Giants did was not a fluke, but they got hot at the right time and played way above their capabilities last season. So I see the Birds making the playoffs, and depending on how big the D shows up they could go the NFC Championship game, but again Super Bowl? I just don't see it.

This would be one instance where I would be rooting for the Eagles. ;-)
But geez they have my Raiders doing WORSE than last season. Geez louise! :(

No worried although the many questtionable signings they Raiders have made during this offseason, I still think they will be MUCH improved from last saeson. I donrt, and never will agree with the ridiculous amounts of money givin to Tommy "whose Tommy Kelly" Kelly, and Jevon "should I retire" Walker but I still think the black and silver will have a beeter than average season and be MUCH beter than last year

ehh I think if Jamarcus and Darren can get things rolling with the O and the defense dont give up 30 points a game the Raiders could win 6, 7 games...

don't forget winna their front o line is deplorable!!
