After just reading the subject line how many of you think I am nuts? Cut Akers, but he is a fan favorite and one of the league's best kickers.

Sorry, Akers used to be one of the league's top kickers. OK smart guy, who would the Eagles sign to replace Akers? It's not as if a elite kicker is just waiting out there to be signed. Oh wait, there is... Jay Feely.

In a stunning move the Chiefs have released Feely one day after signing the kicker. So Feely is the replacement. The numbers don't lie.

In 2007, Akers was 1-6 in field goals between 40-49 yards and 1-4 in kicks 50+ yards

In 2007, Feely was 7-9 in field goals between 40-49 yards and 1-1 in kicks 50+ yards

The numbers show a dramatic upgrade at the PK position for the Eagles if they sign Feely. And despite camp reports.....

	First of all, why would you cut D Akers for a kicker that has gotten cut twice in the last 7 days? (he was released by KC today, it was on sirius radio.) If he is not gook enough for KC then why would we want him. There goes another eagle's fan or article ready to cut one of our superstars because of one bad season!!!

	I completely agree with you. This is silly. Akers is one of the best kickers out there. People have ups and downs, but I think he has earned a little more patience than that. Extremebrian (extreme, indeed), how did you feel about McNabb in the middle of last year?

	Whats up with all these post about should the Eagles Cut Akers should Eagles Cut this player and that player shut up they already know who they are going to cut and i think Akers wont be cut so stop with these do u think they will cut and blah blah blah... Akers is still young and can still kick wow a few missed kicks everyone has missed there kicks but it aint like he lost his swagger.....

	I'm not sure I agree with the majority here. I love David Akers and thank him for many wonderful years as an Eagle. He has won us many games in the past, but it seems like without Coy (it was Coy wasn't it) Akers doesn't trust the holder. I would hate to see him become a burden to our team or any team for that matter. I myself keep wondering if he should retire as a pro instead of a washed up player.
