Predicting the Top 10 Wide Receivers Based on Historical Trends

This is the final article of our very controversial series of three. Once again I want to repeat that we do not think the "sleepers" we have listed will finish in the top 10 but every year 2 WRs ranked outside the top 30 finish in the top 10 and we believe these players are the most likely to do it this year.

What about B-Marsh?

As you've probably noticed I think many underrate the Broncos offense this year and I think they'll surprise. Marshall however has had so many off the field problems, he received another ticket today, has an arm injury, could be suspended by Goodell. There's just so many red flags that I think he'll be a disappointment for many and if someone is going to step up it'll probably be Jackson.

sounds good.....I'm praying Marshall doesn't get suspended, hoping, wishing

I agree with you on the obvious concerns on Marshall but I think in the end he is one of the WRs that will not be part of the shake up that you illustrate happening year to year. I think you give Calvin too much credit this early in his career and in an offense that should pass for about 50 yards less per game.

What do you think of this

Top 5. I agree that Fitz and Edwards are due to drop out of the top 5. But Andre Johnson is one of the guys I see filling it. He finished 1st in receiving yards per start and 3rd in fantasy points per start last year. If he can stay healthy, I'm feeling lucky with him, he will finish top 5. Colston and Brees got off to a rough start last year. This is season 3 and he won't suffer from a slow start this year.

Moss, Owens, Colston, Wayne, Johnson

6-10 ...I think your off the reservation with DJax. He was awful last year for a reason, he's lost it. Cotchery and Bowe wil not crack the top 10 either.

S. Smith, Fitz, Marshall, Holt, Welker.
Smith will enjoy having Delhomme back and Marshall is a nut but he's so gifted that on the field he is the going to be the center of that offense. Holt will be just fine as long as Bulger can keep conscious, and Welker will benefit from the departure of the overrated Stallworth.

11-15
Housh, Holmes, Williams, White (someone has to catch passes while they are playing from behind), Boldin.

I agree with a lot of those which is why in our rankings we have Owens at 3, Smith at 9, Marshall at 14, Jackson at 39 and so on but some of those guys will drop and some guys will surprise. We're making educated guesses as to who those guys might be.

Even though many of you know I'm a huge Randy Moss fan, it's possible he might not be a top 5 WR this year. I think he will still be the best in the league, but wouldn't shock me if he wasn't. Teams will blanket him this year and limit what he does best, go deep. Also, last year was a injury-free year for Randy and nagging injuries hurt him in Oakland. Again, I think he will be the best again, but these reasons could make him a little less great than many think.

go, andre johnson. he will be a top performer. not sure how t.o. can be moved out of the top echelon.

Romo's got 2 throw at somebody. T.O will get enough targets 2 lead the league in drops... again, and still be probowl caliber.

Come on Roy is better than Calvin.. Anyone that saw the lions last season, knows kitna's go to guy is roy.. calivn will be legit but not top 5..way out of hand

Roy will be better for the simpl fact that it is a contract year. Calvin is good though

agreed
