McNabb's Last Season In Philly?

As we all know Donovan McNabb has served the Philadelphia Eagles remarkably over the past decade. He has amassed over 25,000 passing yards and over 170 touchdowns and all this with only 2 receivers, ever, reaching the 1,000 yard mark in a season.

But despite all this he still has people who want him out. The very same people who, when he does leave, will be crying for his return when Kevin Kolb isn't performing.

Last season was never going to be "outstanding" for D-Mac but given the circumstances I think he did remarkably well, but that still wasn't good enough for some fans, despite an unbelievable ending to the year which saw McNabb put up magnificent numbers:

LAST 4 GAMES AVERAGES:

Passer Rating - 96.2

Pass Yards - 248

Pass PCT - 65.5%

He had 6 touchdowns and only 1 interception in his last 4 games.

If you spread those numbers out over a season you get this:

TDs - 24

INTs - 4

Thats incredible numbers.

So, to answer my question: Is This McNabb's Last Season In Philly?

No

It wont be if he performs like he did in the latter part of last season on a regular basis.

McNabb is a GREAT quarterback, and until people start to see it that way, he's never going to feel like he's been accepted as one.

i agree, good post. they dont know what they have until its gone.

wow man thats weird, i just posted an article that is pretty much saying the same thing urs done and u wrote urs like 25 minutes before i did mine, the only difference is mines a little more bizarre, but nice post man i couldnt agree more

yeah i love it...ive always loved mcnabb and hate when ppl say he sucks..just look at the numbers and look what hes done for this team that was once god awful

all i am sayin is mcnabb is a great qb i could only think what he would have done if he had a true wr his whole career

Yeah it Goes to Show How Elite of A QB he really is how does he post those numbers with Mediocre WR an have better Records through out most of his Years.... And he only had 2 WR that had over 1000 yrds Receiving... Less INTS than Any Current QB and alot od TDS for alot of Yards.... like you guys say imagine if he had a true Number one but look what he has done with what the FO has Given MCnabb...... Even though they may not seem the Best They sure Prove how Great he is......

McNabb stays.. end of story.. he's our QB

I love Super 5, but if he can't stay healthy and finish the enitre season it may be time to turn the page. We can't keep having seasons be lost every time he gets hurt. Last year his injuries cost us a trip to the playoffs, in 05 his sports hernia cost us the entire season, had it not been for the defense and Garcia playing great we wouldn't have made the playoffs in 06 when he tore his ACL. We would've played alot better and maybe beat the Bucs in 02 had he not been coming off a broken ankle. Iwant Mcnabb to succeed and lead us to a Super Bowl and play in Philly to he retires, but I'm tired of worrying about him getting injured. The next time he has a serious injury we need to let him go.

Kolb is a bum period enough said

hes got the whole world against him not to mention half his team, i know the runyan is out to eat him and well, Sheldon bitched too like grow up Runyan u only made the Pro Bowl once and thats cus McNabb had to run past ur fat ass, an Sheldon i love you much success but u dropped 3 ints last year not to mention let maurice whatever on the seahawks go right past you

BTW: McNabb's replacement: Pat White after 8-9 years

how can u possibly say that kolb is a bum...thats just stupid

i don't understand how anyone can think that we would be better off without mcnabb.since day 1 he has gotten nothing but crap from fans as well as the media.does anybody remember what life was like before #5 got here?if he leaves there will be nobody to blame but ourselves because we,as a whole, have not supported and when necessary defended him as we should have.the front office finally tried to help by getting moss but that might be too little too late.i pray that he does not leave but if he does, can't blame him.

half the people in this website weren't born yet, when Mcnabb first got here.

GREAT POST! DITTO!

mcnabb is a stud when he is healthy...unfortunately ever year it is another injury to wory about. but i agree he is the best the eagles have ever had and will lead to eagles back to the playoffs this year...if he is healthy...

Kolb is certainly not a bum. Go look at highlights of him playing at Houston, he has a rocket arm and his dad is a high school football coach - very good football acumen. 20% of Eagles fans are idiots that don't like McNabb and never will, for whatever reason (injuries, outspoken comments, race, lack of a Super Bowl, etc). 20% of Eagles fans are McNabb apologists that will defend him no matter what, point the finger at the front office, receivers, defense, special teams....and 60% of Eagles fans are moderate and nuanced in their assessment of 5. As for me, I am in the latter, I think McNabb is a top 5 qb in the NFL when he is healthy, key word being "when", and I don't blame the Eagles for drafting and grooming his replacement one bit. Please give me the evidence that McNabb can stay healthy for a full season, especially as he gets older (31)? The guy who projected his stats out for a full season given the last 4 games missed the point entirely. They played the Giants, Cowboys, Saints, and Bills. They were not in contention for those last two games, meaning that only the first two mattered, and he went 1-1. The question isn't whether a healthy McNabb can post great numbers when healthy, and when he can actually walk on two legs (he can), it's whether McNabb can win the big one.

On this point, the jury is still out. I for one think that Donovan is too sensitive to criticism, from the media and on his own team. Look at his comments ever since the T.O. incident - he gets caught up in the back and forth banter and drama. So some of the flak he gets in deserved, a lot of it is self-perpetuated. I just think emotionally speaking, from a personality standpoint, a lot of people question if he has the make-up to win a big game or not. It's a fair question that was asked of a lot of quarterbacks (Elway and Manning being the first to spring to mind), so it's not racially-motivated or anything. I also think he's a bit of a divisive character in the locker room because some of the players view him as the favorite son of management/golden boy, and some of the players think he is condescending and too sensitive. I will always root for McNabb, and he does give us the best chance to win, and people who think Kolb will waltz in and start producing from day 1 are probably mistaken, but I do think it's fair to question if McNabb can take this team where it needs to go.

I am just still pissed that they didnt get him a true number 1 receiver. I mean cmon he deserves it they could of at least went after stallworth again

I know Its about time after so many picks that Reid has made not one has showed up as a #1 lets hope Desean can change that

McNabb is a great QB I think fans of other teams believe that more then alot of So called Eagles fans but I totally agree I believe Kolb may be a solid QB when HIS time comes but McNabb counting on whetherhe's heathly he has 3-5 years left in his tank I personnaly belive 5 more years or how knows he might pull aBrett Favre on us and leave after17-18 years without the whole coming back s#!#

I work in a bar and wait on a lot of eagles fans so football comes up often. I constantly defend mcnabb when people throw him under the bus (happens a lot). After I talk to them for a minute they all agree that he is the best quarterback in eagles history. I think all of the hatred is attributed to frustration over the lack of superbowls and because being a mcnabb hater is a "cool" thing to do. Most of these people have no clue what's really going on

TO "bdnookie"

the purpose of projecting those stats out over a season was to show how well McNabb can perform.

I'm not suggesting that that's what he's going to achieve next year but merely pointing out that when he's at his physical peak he can perform brilliantly

Appreciate the comment tho and I do agree that the last 4 games were not exactly the hardest (with the exception of Dallas and possibly the Saints, despite their rotten secondary)

EaglesRob - nothing personal my man, I am a fan of McNabb and agree wholeheartedly that he is not only the best QB in Eagles history, but our best chance to win a Super Bowl. I appreciate the comments on McNabb, I think last year was completely unfair to judge the man on considering he was returning from serious knee surgery. I am sure I sound like a broken record here, or a WIP host, but the bottom line is that his injuries/perceived lack of mental toughness has cost the team, and I do question if he can ever get over that hump. Nothing in the world would please me more than to see Donovan lead the birds to a Super Bowl, and I would be the first in a long line of fans to eat crow if he did.

McNabb's only problem is being black, same with these other stars. THat's his problem, but when it comes to receivers and rbs its the bioggest advantage

How Can anyone Critize Mcnabb he took us to having an 8-8 season not the Best better then 6-10 in 2005.... But who was our QB Mike Mcmahon Come on.... Plus he came out of being injured from the Season before an got Reinjured again an still came back an went on a 3 game winning streak it would of been a 4 if we beat the Giants but oh wells.... My point is That for Him to be outa injury an to get Reinjured an go through all he has gone through this past season an still lead the team to 8-8 n be close to the 3 teams that all went to the playoffs... Says alot To be honest if the Eagles truly Did suck They wouldnt be 8-8 especially in there Division Am I RIGHT....... they should of been 6-10 or Far Worse but no they stuck with it an gave us 8-8 which is neither Winning or losing its a Tie........ If given the Chance to go back an change things in crucial games we could of won than i would go back but we cant our focus is wat 08 let make it happen DMAC

First of all i dont have to look at any kolb higlights from college! just look at the presean games and that game where he filled in at the end in the lions game, he stunk it up, he looked totally lost, alot of QBs looked good in college that dont mean dittly in the pros like I said kolb is a bum

lol. That one game where he came in against the Lions D is more than enough evidence to conclude Kevin Kolb is a bum. Clearly this coaching staff can't evaluate talent.

C'mon guys, it was his first NFL game.

You can't expect a guy to come in first day and play lights out football.

Hey, its all good for those 20% douches, i say when McNabb wins MVP next year you give away your Eagles jerseys and go become Cowboy fans because your kind isnt welcome here, ok? and as for receivers, i didnt realize that kevin curtis is playing like a number 1 his numbers are like a number one, all he needs to do is ork on consistency and next year with Crabtree at #2 DeSean deep threat thats a mighty fine group of them ereceivers

maybe you,re right and maybe your not bdnookie but let me tell you that im not completely sold on this kolb guy yet, I never heard of him in college and im a wolverines fan, I'll just wait and see
