The Los Angeles Dodgers transferred Kyle Hurt to the 60-day injured list in order to make room on their 40-man roster for Nabil Crismatt. Nick Ramirez was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City as a corresponding move to add Crismatt to the Dodgers’ active roster.

Hurt had been on the 15-day IL since April 20 because of right shoulder inflammation. His original IL stint was backdated to April 17, and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he believed Hurt would likely undergo an MRI on the ailing shoulder.

Roberts also added the right shoulder trouble had been affecting Hurt throughout stretches of the season.

“I think it’s sort of been something that’s been in and out,” he said earlier this month. “But his last one, velocity down just a tick and then he said he just didn’t feel good coming out of it, so we kind of kept an eye on it. Came in and played catch, felt better, but then tried to get off the mound and just didn’t feel well.”

Hurt makes six Dodgers pitchers who currently are on the 60-day IL.

He’s appeared in three games (one start) across two separate stints with the Dodgers this season, going 0-1 with a 1.35 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. Hurt was on the Dodgers’ Seoul Series roster and appeared in one game in South Korea before being optioned prior to the Dodger Stadium opener.

The 25-year-old has started in two games for the Oklahoma City Baseball Club this year, where he allowed three runs in four innings pitched.

When can Kyle Hurt return?

Now on the 60-day IL, earliest date Hurt can be activated is June 16.

The Dodgers still view Hurt as a starting pitching prospect, but looked to leverage his potential and capability as a reliever to help boost their bullpen.
